SkyBlue Solutions are recruiting an Electrical Maintenance Supervisor on a permanent basis to work alongside the prison service at HMP Woodhill, Milton Keynes.

 

Duties will include, but not limited to:

  • Responsible for the service delivery of the operative team
  • Produce rotas for the operative team
  • Responsible for liaising with clients to ensure customer satisfaction is measured and objectives are met
  • Supervise electrical engineers in achieving KPI passes in planned and reactive maintenance
  • Lead on fault finding investigations and proposals for resolutions
  • Regular review of engineering processes and procedures to seek continuous improvement
  • Implement quality control mechanisms to ensure planned and reactive works are being carried out correctly
  • Instil clean and tidy standards throughout the team, in particular, engineering stores and plant rooms
  • Accurate and regular upkeep of specific compliance logs

Skills and Abilities:

  • Electrician qualified to C&G 2367 or 2357 (Electrical Installation) and NVQ level 3 in Electrical Installations or equivalent.
  • Must have a certificate in BS7671 - The Requirements for Electrical Installations, 17th or 18th Edition.
  • Five years' experience as an electrician or equivalent

SkyBlue Solutions are looking for an experienced Carpenter to work alongside the prison service to carry out planned and reactive maintenance carpentry work within HMP Woodhill.

 

As part of the maintenance team, you will be responsible for projects such as; changing locks, assembling and upgrading wooden furniture, repairing doors, frames, windows, and stairs within the prison estate.

 

Responsibilities   

  • To take responsibility for planned maintenance, of all woodwork items throughout the establishment for both prisoners/staff areas including locks, doors and windows (excluding electronic locking systems)  
  • To take responsibility for the Installation of structures and fixtures  
  • Undertaking planned maintenance of locks in accordance with locking policy. 
  • Lock store, locks and logs – including local courts when required. 
  • Installation of structures and fixtures, such as windows. 

 

Requirements  

  • City & Guilds, National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 3 in Carpentry or an equivalent. We will consider NVQ Level 2 in Carpentry if applicants have the relevant experience 
  • Substantiated experience in a similar role can be considered as an alternative to formal qualification. 
  • Must be able to display competency in the use and operation of all associated power tools and machinery.

  • Two years' experience working in a role as a plumber or equivalent
  • Must be familiar with and able to work to Water Supply HRES/FRM/05095 SEPTEMBER 2019
  • Regulation and Control of Legionella L8 requirements.
  • Experience working on commercial or industrial heating and water systems is desirable
  • Excellent organisational skills / Time management / Ability to prioritise and organise own workload / able to work to deadlines
  • Strong communication skills
  • Basic IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel and Word
  • Good working knowledge of relevant health and safety requirements
  • At least 2 years' experience in a similar role.


Duties will include but won’t be limited to:

  • To fault find and ensure satisfactory fault rectification maintaining site services levels at all times
  • To complete plumbing installations, testing, and commissioning in adherence with statutory regulations, industry best practice and Health and Safety procedures
  • To ensure allocated, planned maintenance and small repairs are carried out, undertake service requests raised by the computer aided facilities management system
  • To maintain regular communications, via radio net, in accordance with LSS
  • To comply with all Health and Safety policies, procedures and legislation to ensure statutory and mandatory compliance
  • To accept formal appointments as a competent person in accordance with the requirement of GFSL’s safe systems of work as required
  • To undertake incidental and emergency or urgent tasks and assignments as per Service Specifications timescales, in a safe manner
  • To positively contribute to the building and development of a culture of excellent customer service, establishing and maintaining an excellent working relationship with the client
  • To take accountability for ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation and company policy including undertaking the role of Fire Warden and/or First Aider as required
