You will be responsible for the Operational Management and Delivery of all Hard and Soft FM within the site. This will include the management of the Customer Interface within a designated area within the site.

This is an active and visible role requiring excellent client relationship and team leadership skills. Working as part of a team within the business, the role holder will be expected to contribute in a positive manner to the performance of the business.

Duties will include but won’t be limited to:

  • Positively build and develop a culture of excellent customer service
  • Establish and maintain excellent working relationship with the client.
  • Lead, manage and develop the Facilities staff ensuring effective day to day management of the service, providing direction for the teams in line with the sites long term goals and objectives.
  • Take accountability for monitoring and maintaining employee qualification levels, including appropriate levels of registration and licences where applicable for staff for Health and Safety and legal compliance.
  • Lead, manage, review, develop and deliver strategies, processes and initiatives that promote improvements to the facilities management service provided to the client.
  • Ensure the facilities management service is fit for purpose and delivers value for money, within a challenging and continuously changing business environment
  • Build and maintain collaborative and professional partnerships with senior Operations colleague
  • Advise and support on payroll issues/enquiries raised directly Develop concise, detailed budgetary information to inform annual and monthly budgetary forecasting processes
  • Take accountability for ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation and company policy
  • Lead and manage the site and service inspection tours to monitor, analyse and evaluate against quality standards
  • Take accountability for staffing levels against service level agreement, ensuring staff complete mandatory training as per role specifications.
  • Ensure all subcontractors are managed on site in accordance with company policy.
  • Update the CAFM system as and when required
  • Attend any training required to complete the site manager role

Requirements for the role:

  • Proven track record within FM with experience within either a secure environment, military, government, health or similar sector.
  • Ideally you will have completed a recognised apprenticeship.
  • IOSH as a minimum
  • Hold current First Aid at Work certificate.

About Our Client: Gov Facilities Services Ltd provide Facilities Management Services, such as cleaning, reactive maintenance, landscaping and planned building repair work to 52 Prison Establishments across Greater London, Kent & Sussex, South West and the East of England. 

Due to the nature of the environment, you will be asked to complete the standard Security Vetting for the establishments. This will include a police check, along with either Enhanced Level 1, Enhanced Level 2 or Counter Terrorism depending on the appointed establishments.

You will be responsible for l​eading and managing the shift to deliver planned maintenance, reactive maintenance and other support as required in order to meet sites short term and long-term goals and objectives. 


This is an active and visible role requiring excellent customer relationship and supplier management skills. Working as part of a team within the business, the role holder will be expected to contribute in a positive manner to the performance of the business.


Duties will include but won’t be limited to:

  • To be responsible for ensuring all mechanical and other systems as required by the site manager, are maintained in alignment with the service specification, industry best practice and regulatory requirements including business led compliance activities.
  • To take accountability for the supervision of all staff within their area of responsibility and other site staff as required providing direction on the work for the day and that relevant work area is maintained to a high standard. 
  • To be responsible for managing and supervising subcontractors as required by the business.  
  • Ensure all activities are effectively prioritised in-line with local procedures ensuring workload/regime is delivered escalating issues to the Site Manager when required 
  • Carry out prisoner interviews, inductions and supervise prisoners within the area of work, ensuring that they are appropriately inducted and deployed, completes basic documentation relating to prisoners where required such as logging hours worked 
  • Ensures prisoner security is maintained including conducting prisoner rub down and pat down searches in accordance with policy. 
  • Undertake staff appraisals providing relevant performance information to Line Managers 
  • To take accountability for the effective management of the tool inventory and maintain security standards within the work area 
  • To take accountability for ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation and company policy including undertaking the role of Fire Warden and/or First Aider as required 

Skills and Abilities:

  • Plumber qualified to C&G 6035 (Plumbing), C&G 6189 (Plumbing and heating) and NVQ level 3 in Plumbing or equivalent. 
  • Five years’ experience as a plumber or equivalent 
  • Must be familiar with and able to work to Water Supply Regulation and Control of Legionella L8 requirements. 
  • Experience working on commercial or industrial heating and water or building services systems 
  • Qualified mechanical engineer with experience working on commercial or industrial mechanical or heating systems is desirable 
  • Ability to influence people who are not part of your team 
  • IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel and Word  
  • Experience of supervising staff and third parties essential

Knowledge:

  • Very good working knowledge of relevant health and safety requirements 
  • Knowledge of routine preventive maintenance 
  • Relevant professional qualifications (facilities management/project management 
  • Up to date First Aid at Work Qualification 
  • Full driving license preferably with D1 Essential Experience 

Due to the nature of the environment, you will be asked to complete the standard Security Vetting for the establishments. This will include a criminal records check (standard DBS) along with either Enhanced Level 1, Enhanced Level 2 or Counter Terrorism depending on the appointed establishments.

You will be responsible for l​eading and managing the shift to deliver planned maintenance, reactive maintenance and other support as required in order to meet sites short term and long-term goals and objectives.

  • To be responsible for ensuring all mechanical and other systems as required by the site manager, are maintained in alignment with the service specification, industry best practice and regulatory requirements including business led compliance activities.

 Skills & Abilities: 

  • Plumber qualified to C&G 6035 (Plumbing), C&G 6189 (Plumbing and heating) and NVQ level 3 in Plumbing or equivalent. 
  • CCN1 - Core domestic gas safety and relevant domestic appliance units 
  • COCN1 - Core commercial gas safety certificate and relevant commercial units (Desirable) 
  • Two years’ experience working in a role as a heating engineer, a combustion engineer or equivalent 
  • Must be familiar with and able to work to Water Supply Regulation and Control of Legionella L8 requirements

You will be required to manage a team of operatives to ensure a compliant and professional, cost effective service is maintained. To act as an interface between the operative team and the client and to report issues arising to the relevant line Manager.

 

Principal Accountabilities:

Responsible for service delivery of operative team

Support team members

Proactive reporting of all Health and Safety issues

Requirements:

Our client, Gov Facility Services Ltd are recruiting a Grounds Operative on a permanent basis.

Purpose of the role:
To take full accountability for the day-to-day maintenance of the grounds and amenity areas within the estate. To ensure the site is maintained to the agreed standard with the undertaking of planned maintenance, and new works with adherence to Health and Safety guidelines and security procedures, in order to meet sites short term and long-term goals and objectives.

Duties will include, but not limited to:

  • To be accountable for the maintenance of the establishment’s grounds and amenity areas which will include lawns, ponds, water features and external grounds to the establishment including woodland
  • To carry out soft landscaping - turf laying and hard landscaping – laying patio stones
  • To work inside/outside establishment grounds: cutting, mowing and maintaining areas in accordance with accepted practice
  • To undertake small project work as advised/requested: including soft and hard landscape development and erection of horticultural support structures where the GFSL Grounds Maintenance JD page 1 of 3situation warrants
  • To maintain correct soil husbandry, ensuring all stages of crop development are followed in accordance with good horticultural practice
  • To maintain the growing plant/crop to ensure optimum development and/or cropping, ensuring that the plants needs are fully met
  • To provide safe access and exits to the estate including trimming of hedges / plants / gritting in the winter months etc
  • To ensure all activities are effectively prioritised in-line with local procedures ensuring workload/regime is delivered escalating issues to the Site Manager/ Supervisor when required
  • To undertake quality control over prisoner work as agreed within the Service Delivery Agreement
  • To comply with all Health and Safety policies, procedures and legislation to ensure statutory and mandatory compliance
  • To drive estates vehicles and operate plant equipment
  • To undertake incidental and emergency or urgent tasks and assignments as per Service Delivery Agreement timescales, in a safe manner
  • To contribute to the development of local practice, process and initiatives, ensure consistency across the unit in the application of policies and procedures affecting prisoners and staff
  • To actively contribute to the effective management of the tool inventory
  • To positively contribute to the building and development of a culture of excellent customer service, establishing and maintaining an excellent working relationship with the client
  • To take accountability for ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation and company policy including undertaking the role of Fire Warden and/or First Aider as required
  • You may be required to perform other Duties and responsibilities as assigned from time to time by the Site Manager Supervisor

Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 3 qualification in horticulture or a recognised horticultural industry equivalent
  • Holding of PA2 and PA6 pesticides qualifications would be an advantage
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent organisational skills / Time management / Ability to prioritise and organise own workload / able to work to deadlines
  • Essential Knowledge of relevant health and safety requirements

Knowledge:

  • Must be conversant with grounds maintenance practices in areas of grass maintenance, turf culture, drainage, soil husbandry, areas of ornamental horticulture including aquatics, bedding, perennial, tree and shrub culture and a working knowledge of different types of habitats and the support each provides for: insects, creatures and animals
