We have an exciting opportunity for a Contractor Escort to work at the prison on behalf of our client, Gov Facility Services - a Ministry of Justice owned company.

 

 

 

The environment can be a challenging but rewarding one. You will be engaged on a temporary contract but due to the high demand of work, this opportunity will be long term. Once in the role, you will have the opportunity to apply for a permanent position or to register your interest in other roles within the prison. 

 

Purpose of the role:

 

You will be working with and supporting the Security team. Responsible for escorting building contractors throughout the prison and outside areas.

 

Other duties will include (but not be limited to):

 

Checking & searching contractors entering the site

Contractor tool checks and keeping a record of tools brought onto site

Supervising contractors whilst onsite

Searching buildings

Vehicle checks

Radio handling

Stores duties

Following Health & Safety procedures

Requirements:

 

No qualifications or previous experience is required as full training will be provided by the site. However, it is essential that you are able to communicate effectively as you will be liaising with contractors and your team on a daily basis.

You will be confident and possess good people skills

Our client, Gov Facility Services Ltd are recruiting a Plumber with commercial maintenance experience

Purpose of the role:
To ensure the site is maintained to the agreed standard with the undertaking of planned and reactive service and maintenance, breakdown and fault finding and repair tasks on a range of plumbing, heating and water supply / services throughout the estate. To undertake survey inspections for quality control purposes including in confined spaces and at height, recording all work and completing associated registers/logs. The regular supervision of prisoners undertaking quality control over prisoner work as agreed within the Service Specification.

Skills & Abilities:

Plumber qualified to C&G 6035 (Plumbing), C&G 6189 (Plumbing and heating) and NVQ level 3 in Plumbing or equivalent
Two years' experience working in a role as a plumber or equivalent
Must be familiar with and able to work to Water Supply HRES/FRM/05095 SEPTEMBER 2019
Regulation and Control of Legionella L8 requirements.
Experience working on commercial or industrial heating and water systems is desirable
Excellent organisational skills / Time management / Ability to prioritise and organise own workload / able to work to deadlines
Strong communication skills
Basic IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel and Word
Good working knowledge of relevant health and safety requirements
At least 2 years' experience in a similar role.

Duties will include but won’t be limited to:

To fault find and ensure satisfactory fault rectification maintaining site services levels at all times
To complete plumbing installations, testing, and commissioning in adherence with statutory regulations, industry best practice and Health and Safety procedures
To ensure allocated, planned maintenance and small repairs are carried out, undertake service requests raised by the computer aided facilities management system
To maintain regular communications, via radio net, in accordance with LSS
To comply with all Health and Safety policies, procedures and legislation to ensure statutory and mandatory compliance
To accept formal appointments as a competent person in accordance with the requirement of GFSL’s safe systems of work as required

Skills & Abilities:

- Must be familiar with and able to work to Water Supply HRES/FRM/05095 SEPTEMBER 2019
- Regulation and Control of Legionella L8 requirements.

GFSL Site Supervisor Mechanical Bias

You will be responsible for l​eading and managing the shift to deliver planned maintenance, reactive maintenance and other support as required in order to meet sites short term and long-term goals and objectives. You will be based onsite at HMP/YOI Feltham.

 

This is an active and visible role requiring excellent customer relationship and supplier management skills. Working as part of a team within the business, the role holder will be expected to contribute in a positive manner to the performance of the business.

Duties will include but won’t be limited to:

 

  • To be responsible for ensuring all mechanical and other systems as required by the site manager, are maintained in alignment with the service specification, industry best practice and regulatory requirements including business led compliance activities.
  • To take accountability for the supervision of all staff within their area of responsibility and other site staff as required providing direction on the work for the day and that relevant work area is maintained to a high standard. 
  • To be responsible for managing and supervising subcontractors as required by the business.  
  • Ensure all activities are effectively prioritised in-line with local procedures ensuring workload/regime is delivered escalating issues to the Site Manager when required 
  • Carry out prisoner interviews, inductions and supervise prisoners within the area of work, ensuring that they are appropriately inducted and deployed, completes basic documentation relating to prisoners where required such as logging hours worked 
  • Ensures prisoner security is maintained including conducting prisoner rub down and pat down searches in accordance with policy. 
  • Undertake staff appraisals providing relevant performance information to Line Managers 
  • To take accountability for the effective management of the tool inventory and maintain security standards within the work area 
  • To take accountability for ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation and company policy including undertaking the role of Fire Warden and/or First Aider as required 

 

Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Plumber qualified to C&G 6035 (Plumbing), C&G 6189 (Plumbing and heating) and NVQ level 3 in Plumbing or equivalent. 
  • Five years’ experience as a plumber or equivalent 
  • Must be familiar with and able to work to Water Supply Regulation and Control of Legionella L8 requirements. 
  • Experience working on commercial or industrial heating and water or building services systems 
  • Qualified mechanical engineer with experience working on commercial or industrial mechanical or heating systems is desirable 
  • Ability to influence people who are not part of your team 
  • IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel and Word  
  • Experience of supervising staff and third parties essential

 

Knowledge:

 

  • Very good working knowledge of relevant health and safety requirements 
  • Knowledge of routine preventive maintenance 
  • Relevant professional qualifications (facilities management/project management 
  • Up to date First Aid at Work Qualification 
  • Full driving license preferably with D1 Essential Experience 

 

Due to the nature of the environment you will be asked to complete the standard Security Vetting for the establishments. This will include a criminal records check (standard DBS) along with either Enhanced Level 1, Enhanced Level 2 or Counter Terrorism depending on the appointed establishments.

Job Role: Test and Inspect Electrical Engineer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Test and Inspect Electrical Engineer to work on behalf of our client Gov Facility Services Ltd. This can be a challenging environment however due to the high demand of work this could be a long-term opportunity for the correct candidate.

Purpose of the role:

To ensure the site is maintained to the agreed standard with the undertaking of planned and reactive service and maintenance, breakdown and fault finding and repair tasks on a range of electrical services throughout the estate. To undertake survey inspections for quality control purposes including in confined spaces and at height, recording all work and completing associated registers/logs. The regular supervision of prisoners undertaking quality control over prisoner work as agreed within the Service Specification.

Skills & Abilities:

* Electrician qualified to C&G 2367 or 2357 (Electrical Installation) and NVQ level 3 in Electrical Installations or equivalent with at least five years’ experience working as an electrician
* Qualified to C&G 2391 - Electrical inspection and testing
* Must have a certificate in BS7671 - The Requirements for Electrical Installations, 17th or 18th Edition.
* Two years’ experience working in a role as a test and inspection electrician or equivalent
* Experience working on commercial or industrial electrical systems
* Excellent organisational skills / Time management / Ability to prioritise and organise own workload / able to work to deadlines
* Strong communication skills
* Basic IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel and Word
* Good working Knowledge of relevant health and safety requirements

Duties will include but won’t be limited to:

* To be accountable for the testing and inspection of electrical services within the prison estate in line with the sites maintenance requirements, industry best practice and statutory requirements
* To be accountable for the maintenance, installation and repair of electrical systems within the prison estate in line with the sites maintenance requirements
* To be responsible for ensuring that any unsafe electrical installations are managed safely and professionally in order to minimise risk to staff and the establishment, identifying the problem and taking remedial action as required
* To advise the site management team of any existing or new electrical installations that are unsafe or that do not meet current regulatory or industry best practice standards
* To take accountability for reactive maintenance within the prison estate in line with the sites long term goals and objectives
* To fault find and ensure satisfactory fault rectification maintaining site services levels at all times
* To ensure allocated, planned maintenance and small repairs are carried out, undertake service requests raised by the computer aided facilities management system
* To ensure all activities are effectively prioritised in-line with local procedures. It is expected that this role will resolve day to day operational issues, ensuring managers are notified and only escalating exceptional issues to the Supervisors / Site Manager when additional resources are required
* To undertake quality control over prisoner work as agreed within the Service Specification
* To undertake general maintenance tasks and survey inspections in areas including confined spaces and at height, recording all work and completing associated registers/logs
* To comply with all Health and Safety policies, procedures and legislation to ensure statutory and mandatory compliance

Principal Accountabilities:

Produce rotas for the operative team

Proactive reporting of all Health and Safety issues

Manage the issue and upkeep of PPE to the team

Ensure that the operative team are dressed appropriately at all times

Assist and support in the preparation of the payroll

Responsible for liaising with clients to ensure customer satisfaction is measured and objectives are met

This will be a static role based onsite at HMP Send. You will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance to all plumbing services. 
 
For this role it is essential you meet the following criteria: 

  • Qualified Plumber: Minimum NVQ Level 3 Plumbing 
  • Ideally Time Served in a recognised Plumbing Apprenticeship 
  • Experience of Commercial Plumbing Facilities maintenance. 
  • Good problem-solving skills 
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to be security conscious 

Suitable candidate will be in or will have the relevant experience of plumbing maintenance in a commercial environment, along with NVQ Level 2 in Plumbing which is essential for the role.
