Administrator Payroll

Purpose of the role:

Reporting to the Payroll Supervisor, you will be responsible for the payroll function within GFSL, for all stages of payroll throughout the monthly cycle. The primary function of the role is to support the Payroll Supervisor to ensure that payroll is run on time and to maximum accuracy, and requires the post holder to deal with issues that arise, within defined areas and make decisions/take appropriate action to resolve any issues that may impact on the operation of payroll

Duties will include but won’t be limited to:

  • To ensure the payroll runs on time
  • Responsible for ensuring the accurate input of the payroll transactional data to provide accurate payment to GFSL colleagues
  • Supporting the Supervisor in auditing payroll input and output
  • Undertaking audit functions in respect of overtime/absence and delivering to key stakeholders and the wider business to promote better practice
  • Management and recording of communications both in and out of the Payroll department with key stakeholders, the wider HR team and GFSL staff in general via email, mail and telephone
  • Providing guidance on complex issues from the wider business, and escalating as necessary
  • Contributing to reports for SLT on payroll and interpreting data to facilitate decision making by heads of functions on key areas relating to people management
  • Providing manual intervention into the system where necessary
  • Maintaining and building internal relationships with key GFSL stakeholders and the wider HR team
  • Undertaking of weekly communications with the Regions/Site teams to ensure data is transferred timely to enable payroll to run effectively
  • Responsible for the maintenance and security of HR data held within Oracle in line with GDPR regulations
  • Responsible for the production and distribution of GFSL payslips on a monthly basis to all GFSL staff.
  • Other key responsibilities dependant on role to include, Payroll Lead on T&C change process, Payroll Lead on HMRC/P11d data, Payroll Lead on Comms (e.g Blink)

Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have previous experience working within payroll
  • Knowledge of the end to end processes that make up the payroll cycle
  • Knowledge of the HR and organisational policies that impact on payroll input and output
  • Legislative knowledge
  • Must be highly numerate
  • Able to work on their own initiative and manage their own workload

About Our Client:

Gov Facilities Services Ltd provide Facilities Management Services, such as cleaning, reactive maintenance, landscaping and planned building repair work to 52 Prison Establishments across Greater London, Kent & Sussex, South West and the East of England. 

Due to the nature of the environment, you will be asked to complete the standard Security Vetting for the establishments. This will include a criminal records check (standard DBS) along with either Enhanced Level 1, Enhanced Level 2 or Counter Terrorism depending on the appointed establishments.
